Saying Goodbye
It is difficult to say goodbye - for all of us! And so as I prepare to
say goodbye, I know that you are in good hands, as you are in God's hands.
For all of the times I let
you down, I ask your forgiveness.
For all of the times you
let me love you, I give you profound thanks.
For all of the times you
loved me, words can never convey my gratitude.
For all of the times we
shared together: in worship, in ministry, in laughter: I have been richly
blessed by them, and will carry them in my heart always.
In the weeks and months ahead:
I pray that you will be
gracious to the wardens, who are already undertaking more work.
I pray that you will be
kind to the lay leadership, who will undertake the challenging duty of leading
services.
I pray that you will be
patient with the search committee and the search process, acting on your
behalf, whose ministry is stressful: the right person isn't always the first
applicant.
I pray that you will be
welcoming to newcomers: those who come through our doors, no matter
I pray that you will be
prayerful and careful in all that you do, as a time of transition is unsettling
for all.
In short: I pray that you continue to be the community of
Christ-followers that you are.
I pray that you believe and remember that you are the best parish in
the province - don't let anyone ever let you think otherwise!
And I pray that when you welcome your new rector, that they will
realise how fortunate they are to be among you.
Peace Within
May today there be peace within.
May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to
be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of
faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the
love that has been given to you
May you be confident knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul
the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of us.

Lisieux and St. Theresa of Avila
